Thanks, all!

Good Evening -

I regret that I have not given enough in-class time to the development and discussion of your multigenre projects. There is much to do and the time we spend playing with various prompts and ideas is important in developing our writing - to include the multigenre. I hope you are thinking of your journal/writer's notebook as a place where ideas, phrases, scenes, voices can take shape while you work on the multigenre. Is there a piece you shared during out discussion of The Pocket Muse that may now become part of your multigenre?

Just as we encourage our students, remember that we are all writers, exploring and refining. I hope you all feel comfortable emailing me an idea or draft, even partial though it may be. I will give feedback without delay.

Have a great week. Thank you for all your efforts in ERL 540.

  1. Thanks for the quick response to my e-mail Amy. I will try again.
Class is always good and I come away each week wishing there was more time or that we just got started. I have lots of ideas but they are still (mostly) in my head.

  2. Amy,
Even though the conversation I had with Allie was brief, I found it helpful in clarifying my thinking about the multi-genre project. I am thinking about doing my project on Motherhood and how my role has changed and evolved. It is a kaleidoscope of love, it looks different with each turn. Jacob is twenty-three (YIKES!)and figuring out how to mother or not mother an adult is a challenge. Motherhood is about milestones/celebrations and loss.

  3. Thanks for framing motherhood as a "kaleidoscope." Too often, I allow myself to think of it as a tsunami! I am just beginning to see some of my kiddos as adolescents and I can relate to your comment about the evolution of the role. ADVENTURE of a lifetime!

  4. I really found our time working on our multigenre project in class to be extremely helpful! Thank you for allowing us that time to share our writing pieces and give each other feedback. The ideas that my group gave me made me want to go right to work on it. I think that it helped me come up with different writing pieces to try as well. I needed that time to sort through my ideas!
